Special Event Floral Preservation

Let’s face it - we all want to hold good memories close to our hearts.

Whether it’s your wedding day, a service to memorialize a loved one, an anniversary, or any special event, we all want to make our good memories last.

That is why I create framed floral preservation artwork, and I am pleased to offer my Flower Preservation Services to you!

Your memories & stories are my inspiration.

Please read the following basic requirements.  You must agree to these points in order to be considered as a client of Rachel Winkel of Doc Green Grows.

Your flowers must be received by me within 24 hours of your event. Whether you choose to deliver your flowers in person to me at my farm in Winder, Georgia, or use FedEx Same-Day or FedEx Overnight Delivery, I MUST receive your flowers within 24 hours of the event. Why? Because from the moment a flower is cut, it begins to decline. To create an excellent dried product, I must start with fresh flowers.

Therefore, it is your responsibility to 1) Arrange for FAST flower delivery to me and 2) Assure that your flowers have been given the best possible treatment before delivery/mailing.

Please keep your bouquet in fresh, clean water in a cool location (indoors in A/C during warm months.) DO NOT PUT YOUR BOUQUET IN A REFRIGERATOR. The typical home fridge has other items in it that give off ethylene gas that will quickly deteriorate your flowers.  If you are anywhere in the metro Atlanta and eastern suburbs, I strongly recommend you hand-deliver the bouquet to me at my farm.

If you are located outside of the metro Atlanta area and its eastern suburbs, please contact me before your event date! You will be responsible for shipping costs, but I will give you very detailed instructions on how to package your bouquet for shipment to me.

Flower preservation takes time.  Art takes time. It takes 1-4 weeks to dry your flowers. Some flowers dry faster than others, some require multiple techniques. After drying, you will receive images of all of your flowers, now dried.  You will answer questions about frame preferences (frame and background color, orientation) and most importantly, the design style.

It takes 2-4 months to create the final piece.  When you sign your contract, you will be given an estimated completion date. I will of course do everything I can to design your piece promptly. But, expect a 5-month waiting period for your final product during the warm weather months.  This is because I am also a cut flower farmer, and the busiest wedding season is also my busiest cut flower season!

—————————————————————

I reserve the right to exclude any flowers or greenery in the final piece. This is mainly relevant to flowers/greenery that are received in sub-optimal condition.  For example, if I receive hydrangeas that are falling apart, there is nothing I can do to make them perfect again. Nobody can make a dying flower look alive again, using only natural practices!

I will make every effort to use all elements of an arrangement in the final design, but the end goal for everyone is a beautiful work of art.  You must be willing to trust that I will do everything I can to include all elements of your bouquet, but I will use only the best-looking material in your art.

—————————————————————

Expect flower colors to change during the drying process. Many flowers will take on a deeper shade after drying. Light pink can turn into dark pink. Red may dry as a very dark red. Off-white may dry as light brown. I cannot control the natural processes of drying.  Please note, I do NOT paint flowers or use any chemicals to alter the flowers. Those artificial techniques are contrary to nature and to my artistic approach.

Contract price is $475 (plus sales tax) . Most clients choose my largest shadow box frame of 16 x 20 inches. You will pay half of the contract price upon delivery of your flowers to me, and the second half at pickup of the final piece. I use shadow boxes so that the full size and texture of the flower may be preserved.  At this time I do not offer preservation in resin.

—————————————————————

I will create a work of art from your material.  You will decide all aspects of the final piece, like general layout, frame size, background color, and most importantly- a design that suits your own unique style!
